What is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy?

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based therapeutic orientation that is founded on the theory that psychological problems are related to unhelpful thoughts and behaviours that are learned in our environments. The aim of CBT is to help you analyze patterns in your emotions, thoughts, behaviours and life circumstances in an effort to bring about change. The focus is short-term and goal-oriented, with the aim of giving you tools that you can use to feel better both short- and long-term.

Eating disorders

In our society many people are concerned about their weight and appearance, however eating disorders go far beyond regular body preoccupations. They are serious disorders that are characterized by intense preoccupations and abnormal behaviours around eating, weight and body image. They can be found in individuals of any weight and are often related to more general problems of self-esteem, mood, anxiety and interpersonal relationships. They can have serious physical, psychological and social consequences, so it is important that people with eating disorders receive adequate treatment. Anxiety disorders

It is normal to feel anxious before a test or a presentation. However, when anxiety becomes very distressing or starts affecting our ability to do things it can be a real problem.
